and director. He brings this work together under the umbrella of his London company Offcutts. In the 80’s and 90’s he created seven solo performances for schools by weaving together poetry, music and strong visual images. His work was featured on both radio and television and led to over 40 commissions to write and present poetry programmes for the BBC. In recent years he has produced documentary films and CD’s for charities and organisations that work with young people, has initiated numerous artistic projects and been funded to work in Palestine and Spain to create new work for the theatre. His films have been shown at the Royal Society of Arts, the Kicks n Flicks Festival and the Olympic Visions Exhibition in London’s East End. He has worked closely with the theatre department at Ohio State University, USA, and will be guest artist there in 2012.
Biographies
Lindsay Jowittis an experienced arts manager, community worker, teacher and lecturer. She began her professional career as a drama teacher in a secondary school and subsequently worked in a wide range of educational and community settings. In 1997 she began to work for Offcutts after training in Arts Management at Birkbeck. She balanced the coordination of educational arts projects and INSET course for teachers alongside a drama teaching programme. In 2007 she was the education project officer for ‘Midnight Robbers: Artists of the Notting Hill Carnival’ held at City Hall on London's South Bank. She is currently researching a new theatre show commissioned by the Ohio State University / Royal Shakespeare Company for production next year.
